Update time

So, it's been a while, huh? I've been traveling a lot this summer and haven't been very productive. Tomorrow we're going shopping for school supplies. I'm not mentally ready for school to start, but I will be when the kids arrive.....I hope.

I've updated the store with a few pieces that didn't sell at the craft fair. Check it out.

It's been a looooong day

Hello world.

Today was the Nashvegas Craft Fair in East Nashville. It was terribly hot and sticky and gross, but fun to be there nonetheless. We weathered some rain, which cooled us down for a little bit, but then it got hotter than before. I ended up selling a couple things, but not until I started packing up. I had a Sounds game to get to, so I started to pack up my stuff around 4:00 after Amanda got there to help. The eldest owl was adopted, and a pair of birdie button earrings were purchased. I rushed home, got all cleaned up, and headed to Greer Stadium and met up with my friends. We got in 2.5 innings, I think, before it started POURING. I got thoroughly drenched on my way to my car. Not fun. A few hours later, I am dry and all unpacked from the fair. I will try to update the store this week with some of the items that did not sell at the fair.

Please keep my mom and the rest of my family in your prayers as she is going in for surgery on Monday. They are working on the arteries in her kidneys. The doctors think this procedure will help to lower her ridiculously, crazy, high blood pressure.

Thanks, and have a great night!

May 15, 2010

The school year is winding down to a close, and I'm so very excited about summer vacation. It's been a tough year. We were out of school for a week due to the flood. Thankfully the days do not need to be made up. I got out to volunteer during that week, but then teachers were called back to school for inservice and professional development to end the week. Saturday we went out to Bordeaux to lend a hand. I ended up with a bad sunburn, but I was glad to be able to help Miss Daisy.

The devastation of the flood is still with us in Nashville. My house was spared and all my friends and family are okay. But there are so many here that lost everything and need help. I have purchased my T-shirt from Nashville Flood Tees, and so should you. There are many other ways to help, too, like donating to The Red Cross.

Since I last blogged, I've made quite a few things:

Today I finished up my brother's birthday compilation, purchased Matthew Ryan's Dear Lover - The Acoustic Version and Rosie Thomas' All The Way From Michigan Not Mars DVD/LP. I also painted my nails.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

April 20, 2010

It's TCAP week at school and our schedule is all messed up.

I finished these purses last night and tried to take pictures right away, but the light was horrible. So, here they are. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

And here is another embroidery of a song lyric. This time it's from "Lorraine" by Rosie Thomas.

Sunday

I've had a busy couple of days....long anyway. I am tired and in need of a nap :)

I went out yesterday with my friend Amanda and purchased a couple of frames for the embroideries I recently finished. The second is a lyric from Matthew Ryan, one of my favorite musicians, and he happens to live right here in Nashville.

I also got a hoop, painted it blue, and fixed this little guy up:

This afternoon, I went back to JoAnn's and bought a brand new sewing machine. I'm so excited, but haven't tried it out yet.

Time for that nap now. Have a great evening!

April 6, 2010

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Chris Piascik's blog and was inspired to take some of my favorite song lyrics and make them look pretty. Here are a few examples from my "coloring book". They come from Aaron Sprinkle, Sunny Day Real Estate, Rosie Thomas, and Jaymay.

Then I thought it would look awesome to take one and do an embroidery. I think I was right.

Such a beautiful day!

Today started way too early with a 9 mile run at 7:45. It was so cold out then, but since then, the day as become warm and gorgeous. We (Jenn, Yurry, and I) finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes 'round about. I did something to my left ankle and now it's mad at me. I haven't updated much lately because school is back in session and I don't get to do much of my own thing. When I get home I'm so exhausted that I sit and draw/color. I will share some more of my coloring book pages later when I finally find a scanner. Last night I started another embroidery. So far I only have the 'M' outlined but I plan on some french knots and a few other things.

Now, go out and enjoy the fantastic weather!!
